February 4, 2010 - Eindhoven, the Netherlands (EMBS, Photonics)
winterschool on Hemodynamics by photonics

To be held on 4 February 2010 in the auditorium of building HTC34 at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven. The winterschool is jointly organized by Hemolab, Philips Research, TUD and TU/e, in cooperation with the IEEE EMBS & IEEE Photonics Benelux Chapters. The continuous measurement of hemodynamic parameters is essential to a variety of medical settings ranging from the general ward to intensive care units. Various non-invasive photonic technologies have found applications to hemodynamics, including laser-Doppler flowmetry, laser-Doppler perfusion imaging, reflectance spectroscopy and dynamic speckle imaging. Using photonic measurements different indicators related to blood constitutes, circulation and flow can be derived. The winterschool comprises lectures on a number of contemporary methods in Hemodynamics by Photonics. We are pleased to announce the following preliminary program:
9:30-10:00 Arrival & Registration
10:00-10:15 Welcome & Introduction Program
10:15-11:00 Tomas Strömberg, Linköping University Introductory Laser Doppler Flowmetry
Principles for measuring microcirculatory blood perfusion
11:00-11:15 Coffee Break
11:15-12:00 Tomas Strömberg, Linköping University An adaptive tissue model for Laser Doppler Flowmetry
12:00-13:15 Lunch
13:15-14:15 Peter Somers, Delft University of Technology Speckle metrology
14:15-14:30 Tea Break
14:30-15:15 Wiendelt Steenbergen, University of Twente Optical interferometry for monitoring and imaging tissue perfusion
15:15-15:30 Coffee Break
15:30-16:15 Wiendelt Steenbergen, University of Twente Optical interferometry for monitoring and imaging tissue perfusion
16:15-17:00 Martin van der Mark, Philips Research An efficient method for diffuse light spectroscopy
17:00-18:00 Drink
With this announcement we invite you to attend the winterschool. There is no fee, but we kindly ask you to register by sending an e-mail to hemodynamics.by.photonics[at]gmail.com. A simple lunch will be served for registered participants. Deadline for registration is 25 January 2010. A limited number of participants can be welcomed; therefore we count upon your participation once the deadline has passed. More detailed information about the program and location will follow upon registration.
